Scrapbook Heaven Dads and Grads Blog Hop

So glad you are here for the Scrapbook Heaven Dads and Grads Blog Hop & Crop. Be sure to make all of the stops on the hop by checking out the details here!

For my project I raided our garage, my hubby's toolbox, and our local hardware store for some everyday objects I could use to create a "manly" Father's Day Mini Album. On my search I found some assorted hardware like washers, bolts, nails, colored nails, S-hooks, hairpin pins, and also some chains, duct tape, colored duct tape, painters tape, paint chips, and spare keys:

I used all of these fabulous findings to put together this album, titled
"The Life You BUILD For Us":

For this 'flower' embellie, I separated individual links from a chain and used them as petals arranged around a bolt for the flower center:

I found this really cool set of multi-colored zip ties in the garage and wanted to use them:

I simply tied several of the zip ties off to be the same size and arranged them as petals around a washer or bolt for the flower center:

**TUTORIAL**
I wanted to try to create a textured background with assorted hardware. I glued (Zip Dry worked fine) a variety of nails, washers, bolts, and a hairpin pin onto my Maya Misted chipboard page.

I covered the hardware and the chipboard with a layer of paint and waited for it to dry:

Then I sanded off some of the paint to reveal some of the silver of the hardware:

Here's the result:

I also found this in the garage and wanted to play with it. Hubby says it's

I found that I was able to bend it the way I wanted it and simply put one gkue dot on the bottom, where the wire crossed over itself and then one on top.
