Upcoming Crop: Sizzling Summer Sketch Crop
We are hosting a crop on our forums July 16 and 17. Here's how it works:

We will be posting sketches throughout the day on Friday (July 16) and Saturday (July 17) for your inspiration! AND because we wanna keep it fresh you will actually have 2 chances for the grand prize with EACH SKETCH!!!!! So, yup....you can actually complete each sketch TWICE BUT there is a catch....(you know there has to be a catch)....

With each sketch there will also be a 'challenge' posted. You MAY complete two layouts for each sketch this time! Your choice, one with the sketch, and then one with the challenge! BUT if you use BOTH of them for each time you MUST TURN,FLIP, or MIRROR the sketch! For example, if you use the sketch and the challenge on one layout then want to complete it again, you MUST TURN, FLIP or MIRROR it for a second one, even if you are just doing the sketch on the second one. If you are solely doing the 'challenge' part then you don't have to, you will just need to complete the challenge!

We wanna see you guys SCRAP!!!!!

See the forums for complete rules! It's going to be a blast! See you there!

Scrapbook Heaven Dads and Grads Blog Hop

So glad you are here for the Scrapbook Heaven Dads and Grads Blog Hop & Crop. Be sure to make all of the stops on the hop by checking out the details here!

For my project I raided our garage, my hubby's toolbox, and our local hardware store for some everyday objects I could use to create a "manly" Father's Day Mini Album. On my search I found some assorted hardware like washers, bolts, nails, colored nails, S-hooks, hairpin pins, and also some chains, duct tape, colored duct tape, painters tape, paint chips, and spare keys:

I used all of these fabulous findings to put together this album, titled
"The Life You BUILD For Us":

*******MY BLOG GIVEAWAY************
To celebrate this Blog Hop in style, I am giving away this sweet blog candy to one lucky follower:

This prize includes Prima Viola ribbon, Heidi Grace rub ons, 7 Gypsies vintage ephemera tags, Maya Road journaling spots, a new set of glitter pens, and sooooooo much more!! To be entered to win, simply become a follower of this blog and leave a comment on this post. The deadline to enter is Tuesday, June 22, so check back on Wednesday for the winner!

And now here are the pages of my album, along with ideas and tutorials for how to use your hardware store treasures:

For this 'flower' embellie, I separated individual links from a chain and used them as petals arranged around a bolt for the flower center:

I found this really cool set of multi-colored zip ties in the garage and wanted to use them:

I simply tied several of the zip ties off to be the same size and arranged them as petals around a washer or bolt for the flower center:

**TUTORIAL**
I wanted to try to create a textured background with assorted hardware. I glued (Zip Dry worked fine) a variety of nails, washers, bolts, and a hairpin pin onto my Maya Misted chipboard page.

I covered the hardware and the chipboard with a layer of paint and waited for it to dry:

Then I sanded off some of the paint to reveal some of the silver of the hardware:

Here's the result:

I also found this in the garage and wanted to play with it. Hubby says it's

I found that I was able to bend it the way I wanted it and simply put one gkue dot on the bottom, where the wire crossed over itself and then one on top.
